My class brainstorm.

Our class has come together to do a class brainstorm and this is what we came up with from the BODYSAFE image1.JPG

1 under the age 16? You should be over 16 to have sex
2 4 steps to consent ?
1 ask- ask the person                              4 reflect- say around
2 listen- listen to what they say
    3 respect- give them space

Free agreement is when you both agree to have sex
Body safe was run by body safe They came into our class every wednesday for (how long?4 weeks.
  • In BodySafe, we learnt about sex.
  • It was difficult for me to talk about your body parts because i wasn't countable.
  • It was good how we learnt about new things.
  • It was good how the educators were confident to talk to us and asking us if we wanted to do it.
  • The best thing about BodySafe was getting the lollies.
  • If someone was to ask me about BodySafe I would tell them about the age you can have consent.

  2. Kia ora Niua,

Great work reflecting on the BodySafe lessons and especially remember the 4 steps to consent!

I like how you included space as part of respect. I also thought it was awesome you remembered the age that people can give consent is 16 in New Zealand. This is there to protect young people from older people taking advantage of them. There are some other times that people cannot consent including if they are too drunk or high or if there is any form of pressure, threat or force.

It can be uncomfortable sometimes to talk about sex and body parts, well done for participating and getting some good learnings out of the lesson despite this.

    Ka pai!

    Ngā mihi,

  3. Kia ora Niua,

Thanks for this awesome reflection - I really like how you've written the 4 Steps to Consent, particularly the part about giving the person space.

It can feel a bit tricky talking about body parts, so well done for participating. Hopefully this course has made you feel a bit more confident talking about these things!

    Ngā mihi,
    Laura - BodySafe educator
